We made it to Goa amidst the political unrest happening in Delhi and Rajasthan. Those that are worried, don't be! We saw no signs of danger. But thanks for the prayers and thoughts.
Yesterday was a day of traveling, soon to be a theme of this trip. In the morning we toured the Red Fort, a palace of some old Indian ruler--much cooler than it sounds. With temperatures reaching 105F, we sweated buckets in the morning while being followed by oogling Indian men, probably not fascinated with me or Neal. After the Red Fort, we went to find Emily a Saree to wear in Bangladesh, and with some luck and bargaining we were able to find one for her.
Around 1:45 pm, we headed to the Delhi "airport." Talk about an experience. First we were dropped off at the wrong terminal and had to walk 1 km to the other domestic terminal in the middle of crazy traffic. We made it and boarded the plane with many other Indian who don't appreciate the luxury of deoderant. During the flight, we had to fly through quite a bit of turbulence where Poonam had a mini freak attack. Hence the tag line of this entry, Poonam claimed, "I am only affraid of 2 things: snakes and turbulence." We all hope she never has to deal with snakes on a plane!
Goa is beautiful. Hot. Sticky. Sweaty. But beautiful.
We are staying in a "5 star" hotel, but I think someone needs to recheck this hotel's certification because the girls' room has a leaking AC unit, no hot water, and the smell of recently sprayed Raid. Luckily Neal and I have a nice room. We are right on the beach but can't go swimming because the water is too dangerous. However, the pool looks nice, but we haven't been in yet.
Right now we are on a tour of South Goa, which has consisted of a lot of driving but a very few sites. We are about to take a river cruise, which will be interesting I am sure.
Suzanne is up next on the computer and our bus is leaving soon, so its time to jet. We are in Goa until Sunday until we fly back to Delhi and then go to Agra.
We are safe and having a good (hot and muggy) time!

Mark,
Enjoyed catching up with you. I know fair skinned, blue eyed, red haired you really stands out. Reminds me of David in Japan when he towered over the Japanese, and so did I.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Peggy
